RVSitebuilder Pro V5 User Guide and
Glitch Report

This link is an actual user guide for
RVSitebuilder Pro. A basic guide but better than nothing. It's published by RV
GlobalSoft. Many things in this guide I've found not to work or the actual buttons shown in the guide do not exist in the editor.
Copy/Paste
One thing I've found not to work as described is the copy/paste buttons. I don't know how this button is supposed to function but I find it not usable, so I highlight with the mouse and right click to copy and paste as usual.
External Links
Plus I have not found any way to embed code such as affiliate advertising. What I've done so far is create text links using my affiliate code, I've yet to be able to embed the actual affiliate link code from any of my affiliates.
Paint Format
I find it does nothing at all, a waste of a button if you ask me.
Undo/Redo
Another waste of space, if you like an undo button that that will replace one word when you accidentally delete a full page of text, then this is for you. Or how about a redo button that has not done anything in the 50 or so times I've tried it.
My advice is to save often and be very careful.

Why
Layout Button
The layout button is a bit misleading as is the tutorial on how to use it. This is something I discovered by accident and was very annoyed by it until I figured out how to use it. First off, this function is not solely independent of the page it's used on. The layout button and anything you add via this function will affect all pages using the same page layout. For instance, if you used the same layout for all pages of your site, that is selecting the same layout after the page is created, then adding a block and content to one page will add the same block and the exact same content to all the pages using that layout. Clearer than mud? OK, assume you have used the same layout for all of the pages on your site and you want to add the copyright date to the bottom of all your pages. Instead of editing each page one by one, you could add a block to the bottom of one page, type in the copyright text and it will then appear on all of your pages. Adding a block to a page not using the layout button will affect that one page only. I've never found this tidbit mentioned in any other user guide.
Text Format
If you make some text bold, italic or even into a link, all of the text that follows will assume the same format. The only way around this that I've found is to wait and do all of your formatting after you've written your article. Write the article first, then go back and format, including the text links.
I agree, it would be nice to do all of this as you go but this editor won't allow it.

Modify a Template Header
The header of a template may be modified but not in the sense you may think. There is no means of doing so within the sitebuilder itself. What you must do is use the Snipping Tool, snip out the header, modify it in PhotoFiltre or paint.NET and then upload it again to the sitebuilder in the normal fashion or upload a totally different header of your own making.
You can find the Snipping Tool at: Start>Accessories>Snipping Tool. Click on it and your screen will become hazed and the tool box will appear. Left click and draw a box around what you want to save. When you lift off the mouse the snip is complete. Click save as, name your snip and choose .png.
Make your snip larger than necessary at this point, you can crop more precisely later.
Download and Edit
Another alternative to this is to download the template, modify it, then upload the template back into RVSitebuilder. I've never actually downloaded a template, so I can't attest as to how it's done or how easy or hard it is.
Font Settings
Are useless in my opinion. You can set the font type and size all you want in the site settings but it will always revert back to Verdana and default size in the editor. Quite amusing.
I Still Use It
Despite all of its shortcomings it is still an amazingly simple and easy site publisher to use. I still hope that someday all of the bugs will get worked out such as the one right now as I type all of the text is italicized because at one time there was italicized text in this spot.
